As for the commenness of soh.... i use it everywhere i can. elites are often built around, although not quite in the way of the commonest offender of this, iW builds. What im mainly talking about is energy management, which is the lifeblood of 4/6 of the professions, although there are other niches, as everous said above.
neo-ld..... not true. For a start, the whole point of this baby is spam-like-crap. Youll take 240 damage at max energy.... which youd be stupid to get to tbh. And that amount of damage aint that bad.
With a +20% enchant staff, which a lot of prot monks use, prod lasts for around 30 seconds. Exhuastion is -10 permantantly, which regens at the equivalent of 1pip. That means it takes a magical 30 seconds for the exhaustion to be removed. So that means as long as you dont use any other exhaustion skills, you basically take 10 energy off your pool and live with it.
Unless put under heavy enchant stripping it doesnt matter too much about exhaustion stacking either. For me, prod has two good uses, pve.... maintaining lots of enchantments, and pvp, spamming low energy spells. That means with decent e.storage you can abosb a lot of exhaustion and as long as you have 10 energy youll still be pretty much at max efficiency. Whastmore, your a prot monk! Spam something like prot spirit over yourself, and let that be removed. After that, your only worrying about rend, and its unlikely it will be waster just to unearth something that will be instantly reapplied.

I have a question.
Would it perhaps be a good idea to run two prot monks with one heal monk? One prot deals with enchant upkeep to reduce damage (not ENTIRELY necessary to have to prot monks, but it's hard to maintain effective condition/hex removal when you're running a bunch of enchants)
I find running damage reducing/energy gaining enchants to build a nearly invincible team, despite the fact that enchant removal is a problem, I see this as a HUGE asset to a pvp team.
I'm not very experienced in pvp, but with my experiences so far running my build in SF and UW/FoW I've found that despite the massive amounts of enchant removal, the enchant monk really seems to have a valid place in any team.
Now I guess my question is, do you think this would be beneficial or a waste of time? Should a team just run two monks instead of three? Therefore a traditional prot build with the tradition heal, or would two prots and one heal be a really good idea? I think prot enchants are still very worthwhile.. even after prot bond was nerfed.. especially since life bond and life barrier do not make you lose energy like prot bond did. So almost, taking the pve focus off prot bond with the skill balancing was really insightful for me :P
However you still need a prot monk to take care of conditions, so this is why I was thinking perhaps two builds might be extremely helpful, to specialize instead of running a hybrid sort of build.
Just my two cents, if I had an active/large guild I think I'd be trying this out in tombs more.
Did that make sense? Or am I being redundant, I'm a bit of a pvp newb. I've just found this to work tremendously well in pve, and I'm looking forward to experimenting in pvp arenas

I think the best combo is a hybrid prot/heal (running boon), 1 standard heal and 1 standard prot. The standard prot brings martyr and the hybrid restore condition (bearing in mind there are lots of conditions flying around in Tombs). It depends on your team build of course, but if you're running warriors, you'll want blindness and other crap off them asap.

Something to thow in ...
Contemplation of Purity ... on theh MONK ... extremly underestimated ...
behind aegis, rof, guardian, channeling, whatever, its a choice to think about...
Rend Con ... i LIKE it.. but best comes with ...Martyr carried by a friendly ranger or nec ... and a boon ... believe it can heal u from 1 to full, even/specially a Warrior ... (beside w/n ... not much played today)
Aegis Rocks, with or without bug .. watermagic does same in completely different sets, and ur free for something else... combinating it is powerful
.. if u choose... one monk ! choose a prot thing, and be good enough to heal the rest by yourself... it all depends on the team ^^
EnergyDenial Builds -- help help !! Spread up, confuse them, hide u.
Wheres the Damage ?? They should die while draining u.
Against good ones ... ur doomed without mass interrupts from far...
Prot Spirit ... If evryones smart healthy (>xxx), i suggest to save the spot for something else. High spikes should be rare and to handle without.
If u got a squishy party, its a must have ...
Think of the builds around and build DEFENSE for all... use the free slots to kill them
~stay tuned and have fun~
Nice Mind

My 2 pennys:
Equipment:
HoD sword with +19% enchants on it,
Anch with +45HP and +5 Armor (both while enchanted) << Forge wepons crafter. i dont see the need for fast casting/recharge ankh as all my skils recharge in under 2 seconds... exception prot sp 5 seconds and OoB 15 seconds.
i also have another anch with 20+ energy on it to quicly change to to cast OoB if im @ 0 energy.. saved a few peoples lifes many times as that little tec-neq.
Armor: tats Feet and Hands, judges Chest and legs.
Atts:
DF: 11 +3 +1,
PP: 10 +1
Blood: 10
1 left over
this setup gives me 500HP and 47 Energy. Armor 75 v physical and 65 v other.
My skill bar.
Reversal, Mend ailment, draw condition, Plage Touch, Prot Spirit, B00n, res or (sheilding hands/agies/guardian), Offering of Blood.
OoB @ 10 gives 16 energy bk for spending 5 every 15 seconds, that 22 energy per 30 seconds compared with energy drain. (twice as much)
I love it when my team get conditions, especially blind. The warior thats trying to hack me to peices cant do a dam thing once i draw + plague touch him. Then the enemy monks have to deal with all the conditions there team tryed to get on us. its great saticfaction that i am able to be alittle ofencive aswell. hehe, running arround drawing or mending conditions then passing then onto monks also is efective.
P.S. sry for bad spelling I'm dyslexic and cba with word -_-
